Centine Rosé Toscana 2013
Nice bouquet of grapefruit and honey, smooth flavors of bread, hints of nut, with more grapefruit on the finish. This was a nice, dry Rosé featuring a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet. Flavors intensified with a delicious Fontina, highlighting more of the fruit. A refreshing, well-crafted Rosé.
The more Rosés I sample, the more I like them. This Centine Rosé is no exception. From its aromas suggesting flowers and nuts, to its dance on the palate of freshly-cut grapefruit and a tiptoeing finish of dairy, this wine paired exceptionally well with Fontina cheese, which brought out a delightful crispness that seemed to capture summer with each sip. My husband would argue that this is good with or without food, but I think Centine Rose, like almost all Old World wines, tastes best with food.
