Shannon Ridge Home Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Fairly solid Cab. Leathery nose, but fruity palate of blackberry and tart cherry. Acidity rises mid-palate giving way to dry, spicy finish that almost turns bitter. It is not quite there, but interesting, and should mellow with age.
Aromas of cherry and tobacco, flavors of dark berries and the start of character development make this $18 wine intriguing. Strangely, this Cabernet blend was better alone, than with a rich, creamy soup or bread and butter. With more cellaring, this could be a great value, but isn't ready for prime time as of yet.
