The Velvet Devil Merlot 2013

The Velvet Devil Merlot 2013

Brian Says

Another great value from Washington State! Velvet Devil is a richer, more fruit-forward Merlot than I expected, with a nice nose of strawberry and tobacco. This reminded me of Dr. Pepper, which was certainly different, but not unpleasant: smooth, soft, dark fruit, and a smoky finish. A very nice wine for the money.

An aroma of Sweet Tarts and strawberries gives way to a mellow tobacco flavor. Just as the name suggests, this wine is smooth and velvety and quite the value. Washington State is becoming one of my favorite wine regions when I want to try something new that will surprise me...in a good way.

Pair this with a steak or pork loin straight off the grill!
