Carnivor Cabernet Sauvignon 2013
First time I tried this I was unimpressed. It was a couple of years ago, and since then I noticed it getting a lot of positive reviews, so I picked up the 2013 and decided to give it another go. Big difference! Not much nose, just a little strawberry and a hint of caramel. Bold flavors of blackberry throughout, and a jammy finish with a touch of spice. This is a pretty good bottle for the money!
This wine has a jammy nose and yes, using terminology like "jammy" in a wine review sounds super-snobby, but it's true: Carnivor Cab really does have a jammy nose. This nicely priced vino had a pleasing flavor, with hints of toasty oak, caramel, and blackberry and has a warm, silky-smooth finish. It's uncomplicated, but a tasty wine nonetheless.
